How Panic Syndrome Can Be Lessened And Treated

Panic syndrome is a condition which can be hard to define. There can often be no apparent reason why someone should suddenly feel so afraid that they are unable to do what they set out to do. The condition is real enough, and science has managed to identify several factors which can aggravate it and make it worse, but the exact cause is still unknown in most cases. Treatment is often limited to drugs which can control the condition on a temporary basis, but there are therapies which offer the promise of a permanent solution.

The phenomenon of a panic attack becomes a syndrome when it is clearly going to be a recurring problem. An isolated panic attack can happen to anyone, especially if there is a justifiable reason for feeling this panic at the time, but when the attacks happen for no apparent reason, and at regular intervals, that is a certain sign that something is fundamentally wrong. At this point, you need to try to reduce the symptoms as far as possible, while at the same time looking for a cure overall.

If the symptoms are hard to control, it may be that the condition is being aggravated by external factors. These can include the use of stimulant and sedative drugs, such as caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, or even recreational drugs. It may also be due to an excess of toxins in the diet from poor food. It is a lot easier to tell someone to stop smoking than it is to do it, and if you are used to drinking alcohol it can be difficult to adjust to life without it, but these steps should be taken if you are ready for them.

It is best to avail yourself of any natural means for purifying the body before you begin to look at drug treatments. Even if you still need to take the drugs to maintain a normal life, it will probably be at a far reduced dosage. There are several drugs which can treat panic attacks, but many of them are tranquilizers with extreme side effects. It is easy to develop a habit which can be just as harmful as the original condition.

It is more than likely that the causes of panic syndrome are within the mind, and that the physical factors are just aggravating factors. There is little hope of the condition being stopped permanently unless you can go within the mind and get to the root cause. Some forms of psychological counseling have proven to be effective and promising, and hypnotherapy has the ability to take your mind back in time to where damaging incidents may have occurred. Only by isolating and eliminating the original issue can you hope to cure long term panic syndrome.
